Will Gaines

Will Gaines is a multi-instrumentalist who seeks any opportunity to use the gift God has so graciously given him: a slightly above average understanding of music theory and a pitch perfect ear. He plays in a few bands: File Thirteen, With Hesitance, Offbrand, and his personal favorite The Summit View Church (SVC) worship team. Through each of these bands, but especially SVC’s worship team he has been able to connect with and bond with his friends. 

Music is Gaines’ favorite, and most healthy, emotional outlet. Getting to let out emotion through an easily sharable medium has given him opportunities for growth and building friendships. Most notably, getting to play on SVC’s worship team has created life long friendships and endless growth in his faith. 

Gaines’ faith is a driving point in his passion for music. His job at Tone Proper Audio has granted him to make a living off of growing God’s kingdom by helping churches in the greater Portland area instal, set up, and dial in new sound systems. He is helping churches gain stronger worship sounds. His job of setting up sound systems is intertwined with visual, audio and sound production- passions that he is just as committed to as music. 

In the last year Gaines has expanded his palate by becoming interested in a wider range of genres that he pulls influence from. His playing style is just as energetic and emotive as it has been since he started playing, having always let whatever is going on in his mind come into his sound. He has cultivated an appreciation for heavier sounding rock, both in progressive metal and pop punk, without moving away from his beloved funk and alternative pop-rock. 

Gaines has spent the year growing his faith through worship, producing music for File Thirteen's upcoming album, and getting to do a job that combines all his passions.
