Blankets As Capes

Blankets As Capes is a solo project by Zane Crites. The project carries a sound that is about as diy as you can get as it is made in a college bedroom with the intention of proving he has something to say.

Blankets As Cape debuted this summer with a self titled EP. The EP is saturated with longing, loneliness and determination... emotions that any good music made by a college kid should hold. Crites' sound is propelled by how he is feeling at any given moment and sad indie and folk artists that he has looked up to since he began playing in high school. Of course he has picked up new influences and a bit of happiness along the way. The sound of his next EP will reflect that. The style of music he plays and how he records (in his bedroom alone), will create the same general feel that Blankets As Capes' first EP held: "sad bedroom acoustic".

Crites is currently working on recording a cover to put out under Blankets As Capes as a way to say, "hey I'm still making music!". The single will tide over listeners until early next month when Blankets As Capes' second EP hits all streaming services. The EP will be home to five more songs.

In the last six months of working on this project Crites has gained tons of opportunities to meet other musicians on campus at Central Washington University(CWU). Becoming friends and working with other artists is pushing him to create more and put himself out there a little more by taking more chances to play live shows, whether that be open mic nights on campus or opening for other bands at shows put on by CWU.

When he released Blankets As Capes Crites expected his family and friends to listen to the songs once or twice in support, but many more people than that have listened. Through Spotify's wrapped he has learned that his music has been streamed over 1,000 times by people all over the world, which is a big number especially for a college kid in his bedroom.
