The Nuke Proofs

The sounds of 1970's Joshua Tree, CA meets 1990's Seattle, WA in The Nuke Proof's newest single 'Bela Lugosi'. This single is a great first listen for any new fans, as it gives a taste of previous releases while it feels as though it is propelling the band into a new era.

The Nuke Proofs are a four piece rock band made up of Rob Ketchum on drums, Brodie Higgs on guitar, Jake Bonn on guitar, and John Murphy on bass; each chipping in on vocals. The band is as DIY as possible. The band does their own album art, production, and recording; only enlisting help when they absolutely need it, which typically comes in the form of photography.

The band's goal is play to growing audiences and keep reaching a bigger group of listeners while staying genuine. They want to continue to make music for the love of it rather than for money... although it is nice to make a living off your art. Each member of the band has been focused on music for quite some time. Ketchum started his first band in 8th grade, he kept playing and going to shows and has ended up here: a member of a growing rock band. When Murphy graduated high school he chose the path of pursuing music, a choice that was made out of spite. Well spite and the love of music. Bonn continues to pursue music as it is the only way he has found to make any feeling understood.

The Nuke Proof's newest project is called 'Heatwave Sessions'. It is a rerecording of their first EP that was released in 2018 as an attempt to just get something out. The goal of 'Heatwave Sessions' is to breathe some fresh breath into their old music. Two songs were rewritten then all seven songs got rerecorded live in the studio in two weeks; the short time frame gave the Nuke Proofs no time to think about perfecting anything and forced them to go with their guts instead of trying to tweak everything until they ended up hating the songs and scrapping the whole project.
