Bled Tape

Like many musicians Francis Shannon has used music as an outlet and over time music has simply become a part of his personality. Music has always been around Shannon. His mother is a pianist, who during Shannon's childhood would frequently blast Abbey Road while she was cooking. When he was nine years old his mother had a boyfriend who got him started on the guitar, since then he has been hooked on music. He has been creating music for so long that it has become a compulsion rather than a hobby.

As he grew up he found sources of inspiration for his music in different places: Elliott Smith's Roman Candle, the first few albums by the Pixies, and a variety of other albums that are practically ingrained into his subconscious now. He did not take music seriously until he was in college. He found that college was a chaotic environment that was home to activities like sitting around smoking pot, so he needed something else to do. He began playing music a lot more often and decided it would only be smart to take music as far as he could; besides it has been a good outlet for him so why not work hard to make something more out of it.

The promise of the endless outlet provided by music gets Shannon through his day job. He creates music under a project titled Bled Tape. It's loud, dark, fast, and perfectly messy; just as the name suggests. Shannon hopes to one day be able to make a living off his art, but the biggest goal he has with his music is to always continue to grow. With every song Shannon aims to make it better than his previous release. He sees it as a competition with himself to keep learning and improving as he works on his craft.

In addition to music for Bled Tape, Shannon creates all his own visuals. He finds the outlet of visual art just as rewarding as music; it also provides a secondary outlet for when he is not in the mood to play. Pairing visuals he has made with his music rather than have another artist do the visual work for him was an obvious choice as he finds a lot of inspiration for Bled Tape in visual art. Shannon has always loved Sci Fi books and movies; he is able to take inspiration from that that might not translate onto a record as well as it does a visual.

Shannon is currently working on an LP. This Bled Tape LP has not yet been titled, but he ensures his listeners that it is in the works.
