Kyle Sparkman

Kyle Sparkman was raised on classic rock, but did not truly feel the calling to become a musician until he was in college. During this time he played in a band called the Frequent Flyers; when they played live shows it made all the pieces fall together for Sparkman. Although they were just playing covers he knew he was meant to be a musician.

From the beginning Sparkman's love of music has been centered around live shows. When he writes music he writes with the intention of it being performed. He would be just fine playing live without recording. The thing that keeps him recording is a yearning to be able to look back on a collection of work that he is proud of, to be able to see his accomplishments.

In an effort to "chase moments of musical bliss on stage", Sparkman has found music is just as fleeting as life. Making music has forced him to live in the moment more. He describes his music as "groovy, succinct, pensive, [and] sometimes funky". His music forces the listener to pay attention as they follow the groove of each song. Sparkman encourages his listeners to take what they want from his groovy music saying, "Whatever you think the song means, that's what it means."

Sparkman has found inspiration in different places throughout the phases of being a music lover. Before he learned to play guitar he looked to the big rock names of the 1960's: The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, and The Clash. When he first started playing guitar- on which he is primarily self taught, being self taught has allowed him to be "blissfully ignorant" of music theory- he found inspiration in Jimi Hendrix, John Frusciuante of Red Hot Chili Peppers, and John Mayer. Nowadays he looks to artists like Tom Misch and Tame Impala for inspiration.

All these sources of inspiration have been drawn from to create his newest single; the single is coming soon, with no release date yet. While Sparkman spent a year in France he met musician and producer, Florian DeLamarre, whom he collaborated with on this single. Sparkman often collaborates with other artists as a way to push himself to keep his music growing and evolving.
