Diamond Hands

Jon Flynn's mother taught him guitar when he was twelve years old. She had spent his childhood obsessing over and introducing him to music through records; as he learned guitar he became more involved in music, having the ability to experience it right at his fingertips. Growing up listening to the Beatles helped nurture Flynn's love of music, but seeing Green Day's Basket Case played on MTV was the turning point for him. This pivotal moment was what turned Flynn in the direction of becoming a musician. He now plays guitar, bass, keys, and does vocals and more as half of Diamond Hands.

Joel Wall grew up in a musical family. His father and brother both play instruments; their musicianship resulted in music constantly being played in the house, this got Wall into music. He has always been impressed with music and eventually he decided he wanted to be make music too. His father has been a huge inspiration to him throughout his musical journey. Wall plays drums, guitar, bass, keys and does vocals and more as the second half of Diamond Hands

Flynn and Wall met each other at work in 2009, but did not start playing together until 2013. Flynn played bass on Wall's solo project. The process was so fun they decided to record a cover. The pair chose a Bowie song and ended up enjoying that just as much as working on Wall's solo project; so they wrote and recorded an original song. Since then the two have been creating music together as Diamond Hands. The duo are both recording engineers so they are able to do all the recording and mixing by themselves in addition to all the writing and instrumentation.

Diamond Hands' newest album III ends a trilogy they created with their previous albums I and II. All three records have a similar sound that is a slightly softer version of California garage rock. The three records are tied together by the same story. III is a bit more "introspective" than the previous two records. With that introspective tone Diamond Hands filled III with ballads; that being said the entire album is not a collection of ballads. III has its fair share of upbeat songs.

From III Diamond Hands will continue to work to achieve their goal of letting their music pay the bills. They are well on their way to this goal as they are creating their music almost completely on their own from Wall's label,

 Green Door Studios.
