Some People

British band Some People is vocalist and guitarist Orson Fry, vocalist and guitarist Callum Dearden, bassist Romain Pascal and drummer Liam Toon. Some People was formed by Fry and Dearden who are the core members of the band; the other two musicians play when they can, but are committed to other bands. Some People was officially formed in spring of 2018 when Fry and Dearden were living in France. Two years prior the two had been writing a bit together, nothing serious. The small town in France that lacked venues and only had a handful of musicians seemed like a good place to get serious about making music together.

Some People have been working hard to get the same sound in the studio that they play so well live. The process has been a bit tough; having recorded with various producers with not much success. "I think we have learned from each experience and know it's a gradual process, getting more comfortable in the studio," says Deardenn. Before the pandemic Some People had begun recording a few songs and are hoping they have not lost their motivation when they are able to get back into the studio.

The band's sound is shaped by the Pixies' Charles Thompson. The way freedom is emulated in the Pixies' music has shaped the way Dearden writes. Their sound is rock-oriented but dips into soul and country. "The music is very guitar driven, a bit jangly, some swampy country things, but hopefully always melodic," says Dearden.
