Plane Station

Singer, songwriter and pianist Briana Chiapparino's father taught her the importance of music at a young age. "Music has always stuck with me as a way to express how I'm feeling and a way to sort of sink in to what I'm feeling," explained Chiapparino. As a child, Chiapparino loved Britney Spears, but grew into liking a ‘bigger’ sound like what Adele was making. The more she grew as an artist the more she became inspired by folk music stating, "I feel like with folk music you either get it or you don't and one day I just totally got it". Her biggest inspiration comes from artists like Bon Iver, Phoebe Bridgers, and Mumford and Sons. Making music allows Chiapparino to experience her favorite part of music: playing to a crowd who sings your lyrics right back at you. She has wanted to sing since she was a child while singing 'My Heart Will Go On' into a little toy microphone. Her entire family has been extraordinarily encouraging which has instilled a sense of confidence in herself.

Briana’s brother, singer, songwriter and guitarist Nick Chiapparino discovered a passion for songwriting when he was trying to be Jimmy Page in high school. During his Junior year of high school he began singing a bit, finding what his voice could do; he found he had a talent for singing and began to focus on music a bit more than he already was. Through YouTube videos he was able to teach himself guitar. His biggest influence in how he plays guitar is Led Zeppelin; however, singer/songwriters tend to have control of what he listens to the most. Artists like Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, and John Mayer strongly shape the way he writes. Delivering what he has written in a live setting provides the best possible experience of his music, for both him and the audience. There is "something zen and grounding about performing," explains Chiapparino. Music holds a healing power that he believes is capable of reminding "us of a shared humanity", but above all the connectivity music is a strong emotional experience.

Together the Chiapparino siblings are Plane Station. A soft, harmony-driven folk band. They have played together in various bands of different genres, but were looking to downsize and scale back a little bit. Nick Chiapparino had plans to record a solo folk album, but since his sister was interested and has the material as well, they put their work together to create their first record. The format of Plane Station is the perfect way for the two to share their style of writing.

Plane Station hopes to connect with as many people as they can through their music. They are currently working on their second album, titled '7th Street'. This album will hold a bigger sound than their first self proclaimed "intimate folk album". The two are splitting writing and singing duties, each taking on half the work.
