Me Like Bees

Me Like Bees was formed at Missouri Southern State University by Pete Burton and Luke Sheafer. The two had graduated from the same high school where they became friends though football. Burton decided he wanted to form a band so he went to Sheafer; they then found Jake Bennett and Lewis Brossmen who made the four musicians Me Like Bees.

Me Like Bees are inspired by their own lives. Each member had severely different childhoods that have shaped their outlook on life. Their family dynamics have shaped them into the people they are today. These personal experiences have heavily influenced their writing styles. Within their writing they heavily lean into what is important to them as individuals: faith and love. Beyond the more personal sources of inspiration Me Like Bees looks to bands like The Strokes and Modest Mouse for a bit of inspiration. The band has been able to grow and learn from musicians they have toured with. Each tour has given Me Like Bees many learning experiences that they have not taken lightly.

Music is important to Me Like Bees as it gives the band and their listeners a safe place. Music "provides a release for the listener and the artist to experience emotions and grieve and party and reminisce and everything in between," explains Me Like Bees. "For some reason, as human beings, notes and melodies stick with us for a really long time and it's important to use that for good." Using that power to make people feel all kinds of emotions for good is exactly what Me Like Bees is doing.

Me Like Bees finds it incredibly important to show kindness though every part of their music; in their delivery of their art, but also in the interactions they have with everyone who supports them. The band makes sure fans, venue staff, and other musicians all feel welcome and loved at their shows.
