Happy Landings

After being gifted a guitar for his birthday Casper Ingels took it upon himself to master the instrument. Being able to enjoy music as a musician instead of just a listener, Ingels has found music to be even more enjoyable than he had originally thought. He was able to learn guitar in just two months. At first Ingels  wanted to master guitar because he saw how cool some of the greats like Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan looked when they played their guitars. In his journey to become the coolest he could possibly be he found a passion for song writing. Ingels is a born story teller and playing and writing folk music gives him the perfect outlet for that.
During summer of 2020 Ingalls turned to his friend Arvid Swedrup to join him in a band. Swedrup had been on a break from music for a couple months as a result of burnout. He began playing violin at a very young age; with violin comes a competitive community that can become tiring after a while. When he began playing again with Ingels it was as if he had rediscovered music through as new lens.
Together Ingels and Swedrup have worked their way towards a folk sound. As their band, Happy Landings, grows and changes, their sound will also change.
The pair began officially playing as Happy Landings when Ingels set out to cover a Radner and Lee song with minimal guitar skill. He called Swedrup in hopes he would be willing to help him play the cover. The two learned their part then spent a whole day setting up recording equipment. They hired a female vocalist to help with the cover and after they accomplished a solid cover of the song the two continued making music together.
Music allows Swedrup to be filled with a sense of discovery. Most music starts when you think something could be cool, but the more work and attention you put into it the more you learn. You find rabbit holes and hidden secrets in music that makes you want to continue to explore. Swedrup has grand dreams of playing in Happy Landings to big crowds on a tour. He hopes he can someday see that people are enjoying the music they are working so hard to make.
Ingels was tired of liking things that ended, tv shows and movies have a solid ending point; however, music is open to endless creation. When you make music you can feel when you are at the peak of it and when you have hit rock bottom, both allow for strong inspiration. With Happy Landings Ingels hopes to feel fully comfortable with every song he writes and releases. While he knows their music is not going to be loved by everyone he thinks it is a big deal that people are listening to their music.
Happy Landings' newest EP, Inside Out and Back, will be out on February 11, 2020. The record, in comparison to the singles they have released so far is completely different. Each song tells a story that is continued in the next song creating a cohesive story. While Inside Out and Back stands almost as it's own genre it is heavily inspired by Bob Dylan and the artists that had control of New York City's Greenwich Village in the 1960's.
