Dignitary

Inspired by bands like Fugazi, Sonic Youth, and Black Flag, Dignitary creates an energetic punk sound. Each band they have been inspired by has shaped their sound in a different way. For example, Sonic Youth had an impact on the way they write chord progressions. They released their first EP in October, which draws heavy influence from this. Dignitary is in the process of writing a second EP that will be ready for release soon. In addition to the second EP the band is working towards a full album that will be in their typical punk fashion, and a second one that will be a bit different stylistically. 

In January of 2019 in a community college music department Amanda Fortemps(drummer) and Anthony Vinci (guitarist) became friends through an unplanned jam session. The two went on their way to form Dignitary. The pair filled out their band with bassist Sam Muhtaseb. Together the three aim to expand their creative boundaries together. 

Dignitary finds great joy in playing live shows. "It beats recording by far and writing is necessary, but it's just one on the steps that lead to the amazing feeling of performing," explains Dignitary. The band even took it upon themselves to organize their own DIY backyard show last summer. They are planning on organizing more shows in the future for bands, who like them, simply want to play live music. When they are the event organizers, a nice bonus playing shows is getting to support other bands in their local scene.
