Boy Called Cute

The five-piece band Boy Called Cute has recently released a single titled 'Bloop Bloop', with their debut music video soon to accompany it. The band has a few more songs to finish, and are deciding what they should do with the visual aspect of their music.

The band was formed after drummer Tommy Olaes tried and failed to write a musical with a friend. He and the same friend went to Cage The Elephant show where Olaes had an epiphany. He tried his hand at writing music, this time working with guitarist Lewis Marshall. The song they wrote ended up being on Boy Called Cute's first EP; the song is titled 'Girls'. The two enlisted Max Leibl to play drums and got Marshall's siblings to join the band. Bella Marshall plays rhythm guitar and Eddie Marshall plays bass for their band.

Their sources of inspiration range greatly as each musician brings their own inspiration to the band. Leibl got into music by listening to Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Stadium Arcadium; the album has heavily shaped his drumming style. Olaes tends to focus on words over sounds so he is drawn to artists like Lou Reed and Leonard Cohen. Bella Marshall looks to other outlets of creativity to keep inspired. "I've found that if I dip my toes in other modes of art, it prevents me from getting in a musical rut," Marshall explains. "... it allows me to use a different part of my creativity to constantly stay inspired."
