Tiny Castles

Tiny Castles’ current line up is a variation of a band the members started when they were all teenagers. They worked on other projects, but eventually came back to each other due to a common need to be creative. Tiny Castles is made up of musicians who all feel very strongly about making music that they like. As a band they firmly believe art should always be made for the artist who is creating it; there is no point in making art that you do not feel is representative of yourself. Through this belief Tiny Castles has found their sound and the way they work best together. 

Vocalist T.J. Aubchon has always had a love for music; as he discovered more music and began to truly experience music it became a huge part of his identity. Finding solace in the creation of music Aubchon aims to create the same feelings he experiences when he listens to his favorite bands for fans of Tiny Castles. He looks up to musicians of all genres who have the ability to command the room while they’re on stage. 

Drummer Jermey Bassett began playing drums when he was 12 years old and has not stopped since then. Bassett grew up seeing other people play music and simply wanted to be a part of it. He finds the concept of endless variations of style or genre fascinating and brings that to Tiny Castles’ sound. 

Devon Bassett has a vivid memory of being ten years old, washing dishes at his mother’s house. His shirt was becoming soaking wet as he did his chore and Nirvana’s 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' was playing. Since this moment he has known he wanted to make music. Bassett sees music as something that “adds the soul to a piece of art”. 

Lead guitarist Raymond Escamilla heard the Beatles album ‘Help!’ When he was nine years old. Since hearing this album Escamilla has been extremely interested in music. He hopes to one day have enough success with Tiny Castles to make a living off his music. He, like every other member of Tiny Castles, has no desire to be rich or famous as long as he is able to make someone happy with his music all the hard work will be well worth it. 

Each member of Tiny Castles prides themselves on being extremely passionate about their art. The band has put this passion to good use in creating a self-titled record. ‘Tiny Castles’ is set to be out by Halloween. This project has been heavily inspired by The Oh Hello’s, Beach Bunny and Sunflower Bean.  The general sound of the band is created by blending different styles into one sound that feels very true to Tiny Castles. As they have grown up playing music together their sound has become softer and less angry. Now Tiny Castles generally writes sad songs that are carried by a danceable tune. The band has a goal to write stories that can easily be enjoyed by anyone who cares to listen. Each song is written with real, heavy emotions and meaning in every song Tiny Castles puts out.
