Sad Girls Club

Sad Girlz Club knows their music is not going to be loved by everyone, but that is what makes their music so special to their fans. The band writes on themes of "falling, breaking, and becoming more resilient to the disgust and severe harshness of the world." They use their music to help bring people together regardless of background. Music has the ability to create community in a way that no other medium is capable of and Sad Girlz Club is not going to waste that power.

Sad Girlz Club was formed by rhythm guitarist Shelby Murray and bassist Travis Dunbar who both take responsibility for lead vocals. The two are long time friends who share a love of music. Murray and Dunbar had always talked about starting a band. They met drummer Eric LaFebre online and invited him to jam. After jamming on a few songs, that would become their first demo: Membership Dues, they decided to finally act on their idea of starting a band. Shortly after their first show the trio became a four piece by adding Lys Mayo on lead guitar.

Sad Girlz Club makes music that is poppy, energetic and fun with a touch of gloom. The four musicians bring their own inspiration to the collective sound of the band. Dunbar writes about anything that is bothering him, from an unpleasant interaction he had with another person to his own mental health issues. Writing about these tough topics with inspiration from old punk and country artists. Murray looks to the people around her for inspiration stating, "everyone has a story to tell," she finds these stories and twists them into a nice Paramore inspired sound. Mayo's biggest inspiration in her style of guitar playing is RVIVR. When she writes she is most interested in creating "texture and atmosphere" in her sound. LaFebre's influences change frequently. "Like many other musicians and creators the craft itself acts as a conduit for emotional release," explains LaFebre. "Bring that energy, I hope [it] ignites, in others, a similar sense of therapeutic release."

Sad Girlz Club recently released a split record with Lightweight, All Weather, and Slow Draw. The idea for the split album that holds covers of each other's songs came about when Sad Girlz Club was on tour with Lightweight in summer of 2019. After talk of adding a couple bands to the project they started working on it. The album is titled Endless Sommar
