Bookclub

Bookclub is a fairly new band from Vancouver, BC. The band's Spotify gives a home to their first two singles: self titled track 'Bookclub' and 'Without You Around', a track about not wanting to be mean, but knowing the relationship should end. Both songs have an indie pop rock sound.

Bookclub creates music, that they have dubbed "a safe alternative to 'rock n roll' music", as a five piece band. Everybody pitches in with writing while Jack Williams is on keys and vocals, Ethan Rebalkin on guitar, Zack Wismer on guitar and bass, Avery Sloan on vocals, keys and bass, and Cameron D'eith on drums and vocals.

The parents of Bookclub had a part in creating the band. A few degrees back anyways. Whether that was just listening to music around their kid or playing in a band themselves, each of the member's parents played a roll in getting them into music.

Inspiration for Bookclub stems from life. As artists they strive to be able to get something from every unpleasant experience. The way they see it is: "I got my heart ripped out of my chest, but at least I got a good song out of it". Bookclub hopes to use their hardships and triumphs to bring joy to the hearts of their listeners. The ultimate goal is for someone to associate a Bookclub song with a happy memory. Bookclub also hopes to inspire other musicians to write more and keep making tunes. The general long term goal is to enjoy the experience of making music as a band with out making a huge deal of it.

The members of Bookclub strongly value the community that is created around music. The band has used this to their advantage when creating the music video for 'Without You Around'; the video is a compilation of their friends dancing together and having a good time. In the end everything in life comes back around to who your people are and who you are connected to, which works in the favor of musicians. Music will not allow people to experience listening without leaving a connection.

Bookclub is working hard to release more new music in the coming months on Astoria Tracks. Fans can expect the same ideas in the new music as they have heard in the last two singles: "sad music you can dance to".
