Acid Carousel

Acid Carousel has many projects in the works. The band has a full length acoustic LP and a collaboration with texan psych rocker John David Bartlett both set to be out by the end of the year. In addition to all of this, Acid Carousel has a hardcore album that has not been named yet, but is ready to be put out. The band will be putting out an album titled The Most Oddest Thing on October 30.

The band was formed after drummer Gus Baldwin had been playing in a band with guitarist, vocalist, keyboard player and sometimes bass player John Kuzmick. Kuzmick had a side project with a few songs he released just for fun under the name Acid Carousel. Baldwin though the songs were much better and more fun than the music they were making with their other band so he asked Kuzmick if he could join him. The pair became Acid Carousel with Baldwin playing guitar and singing. He kept this position for a while, recently moving to drums. Eventually the duo added bassist and keyboard player Nick Leon, guitarist and bassist Lucas Martins, and guitarist David Rawlingson. The band also includes Connor Mizell, who travels with Acid Carousel and helps with the stage show, doing projections. Even though Mizell is not a musician he is very much a part of the Acid Carousel family.

Baldwin and Kuzmick met taking guitar lessons from a place in Dallas called "Zounds Sounds". The two are self taught on the rest of the instruments they play. Acid Carousel looks to Leon for all their music-theory questions, the bassist is a Berklee graduate and serves as the band's main source of serious music information. For the most part Acid Carousel makes it up as they go, which produces a sound that is loved by them and their fans. It's loud, fast, groovy, and fun.

They take pieces from their favorite records and imitate the parts and stylistic choices they like the best. Baldwin writes about normal, everyday occurrences. He writes about the way people behave; humans do strange things and that makes for a good inspiration for art. Kuzmick writes about the times, what is happening in the world around him. They both are inspired by their surroundings, regardless of what those surroundings may be.

Acid Carousel's goal is to keep playing, to tour as long as they possibly can.
