Taffeta, Darling

Taffeta, Darling was formed in early 2019 when all the members were looking to join or start a band. Drummer Chris Thompson got bassist/guitarist John Dolan, lead guitarist Kyle Kelleher, lead singer Griffon Henzerling together to hang out. Unbeknownst to the rest of the group, Thompson had been planning to ask them to start a band. They became a band with out a bass player, had three rehearsals, no name and a show. The show in question did not go particularly well. A few months later Dolan introduced the group to his friend Mikey Chmura, who happened to be a bassist... just what Taffeta, Darling needed. Luckily, everyone got along really well with Chmura. Taffeta, Darling is now, happily, a five piece band with a name that can be credited to the 1960's classic film "Young Frankenstein".

Since forming the band the boys of Taffeta, Darling have bonded. Henzerling states, "What makes bands interesting is when they have personality and a sense of humor." And Taffeta, Darling certainly has a big personality.

Each member of Taffeta, Darling has pretty different musical back grounds. They all discovered bands like  Led Zeppelin, Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes, and The Doors around the same time, but really getting into music was a bit different for each musician. Henzerling got into music under unfortunate circumstances. He was caught by the cops when he was smoking a joint during his freshman year of high school. As punishment he endured a half a year of being grounded. While Henzerling was trapped in his room he spent all his time listening to The Doors, The Beatles and The Strokes. A couple years and a heartbreak later, Henzerling fell back into the same music he was enjoying while he was grounded. Around this time he began idolizing the infamous rockstar life style that was big with the most successful bands of the 1960's. These bands as well as a load of newer bands, especially The Strokes, have had a heavy influence on Taffeta, Darling.

The members of Taffeta, Darling each have their own way of finding inspiration in the world around them, in what people say. Taffeta, Darling has been writing, reworking their current setlist, and rehearsing with hopes of recording soon. "We as a group and individuals are constantly trying to evolve and the past few months there's been some growth spurts," said Henzerling. "Now it's time to see what we can do." New music will be on most streaming services as soon as the band has recorded.

Taffeta, Darling has a four song demo out on SoundCloud. Their music has a garage rock sound with an indie rock feel. Their music also holds notes of progressive rock. As each member has different taste the band has a sound that cannot be pinned into a specific genre or sound. With this unique and fun sound they are hoping to make music for as long as people care to listen. Taffeta, Darling strives to write a song that will stand the test of time as well as The Beatles' "Hey Jude".
