Jade Helm

Drummer Carlos Martins got his start on drums at age 5 on the best kit the industry has to offer: a Muppet Babies drum set. He loved the drums as soon as he began playing, but did not begin to take it seriously until he was older. Music became real to Martins in 2001 when his friend invited him to go to a local punk show. “By the end of the night I knew that I wanted to play music for people,” recalled Martins. Martins is heavily inspired by his friends and family. Seeing normal people, whom Martins cares about, be happy has always been more inspiring than the success of other musicians. He takes this inspiration to create sounds that have the ability to manipulate the mood of anyone who is listening. Martins strives to continue to grow as a musician and take his band to the next level.

Rich Gladis’ mother has always had a strong emotional connection with music. Playing loud music throughout Gladis’ childhood caused him to feel this same connection. As he began listening to music he found that punk rockers were incredibly cool and he wanted to be like them. So, Gladis made that dream come true. The guitarist and vocalist finds inspiration in nearly everything he has ever listened to. Gladis took interest in making sounds and has only become more interested all things sound: beat making, scoring, sound synthesis, really every aspect of music. Being in a band is just a way for Gladis to be involved in music; the goal is just to make music he loves with people he loves.

Josh Baumlin is a self taught guitarist. Baumlin’s father played drums in bands; he and his brother wanted to be like their father so they picked up instruments and started their own band. After enduring a bit of teasing and being told he was no good, Baumlin locked himself in his room that summer with the goal of becoming a skilled guitarist. He has, essentially shaped his entire music career on Marty McFly’s infamous performance of ‘Johnny B Goode’ in ‘Back to The Future’.  A moment that has stuck with many music lovers.

A year after Baumlin spent his summer practicing his craft he began playing with Martins and Gladis. They played in a few bands together, but their time together was paused when Baumlin enlisted in the US Army. Four years later Baumlin came home searching for something familiar and found it playing with his friends. They had no intention of doing anything more than jamming, but with a jam session that successful they figured it was only right to record a few tracks. This is when Jade Helm was born.

Jade Helm is currently sitting on a few singles that were recorded in the same session as their most recent releases ‘Let It Bleed’ and ‘Mourning Dove’.  With each new release listeners will hear more maturity of the band’s writing. Jade Helm’s new music will be “more of everything that makes our sound what it is,” said Baumlin.
