The Bobby Lees

Four Piece band, The Bobby Lees, have a name that is straight out of the 1960's, but a sound that is far from their name's oh-so-60's feel. The band describes their music as "Alive, honest, and raw"; all adjectives music enthusiasts often hear when describing any punk music, but these words feel like the most genuine way to describe the garage punk sound The Bobby Lees have down so well.
This garage punk feel The Bobby Lees have established would make their musical heroes proud. Of these heroes the group has taken a bit of inspiration from are The Dead Kennedys, Patti Smith, The Stooges, and Bad Brains.
When vocalist and guitarist Sam Quartin moved back to Woodstock he met with a producer, Albert Difore, who told him about The Rock Academy as a way to connect with local musicians. Here Quartin met a handful of musicians who he played with, only two of which stuck with him. Of those two musicians are The Bobby Lees' bassist Kendall Wind and their drummer Macky Bowman. The group moved through a few guitarists before Nick Casa joined. With Casa joining the group they truly became The Bobby Lees. "That's when it felt right," said Quartin. "And we all committed to it."
Since committing to the band The Bobby Lees have released three records. Their most recent record, released in mid-July is titled "Skin Suit". "Skin Suit"was produced by Jon Spencer of the Blues Explosion. The record was an exciting release for The Bobby Lees because it is the first of their work that has been put out with a label. Their label, Alive Naturalsound Records, has helped them make their music more widely available to listeners in different countries.
As a band one of the best parts of music for The Bobby Lees' is touring. The band loves playing live shows as it gives them a way to connect with people. Music can change the way a person feels the instant a song begins and that is only amplified by the energy of a live performance.
