Shock Therapy
Shock Therapy plays what they dubbed "nautical new wave" or "synth-punk from outer space". The band even has the nautical names to match their genre: on bass synth and bass guitar is Rex Cod, on electronic organ and synth is Holden Halibut, on vocals and guitar is Jack Clam, and Miles Jellyfish is on drums.
Shock Therapy formed in 2017 in Southern California when Jack Clam proposed starting a New Wave band. The original line up was a bit different, but eventually after a couple musicians came and went Shock Therapy found their line up.
With the current line up Shock Therapy is working on their third record. The group brings their individual influences to the table to create their distinct New Wave sound. Amongst the artists they look to for inspiration are: David Bowie, The Doors, Dick Dale, and Klaus Nomi. Apart from the work of other artists Shock Therapy finds inspiration in skating, surfing and just being outside in general. Holden Halibut makes music to, "make something [I'm] proud of" and seeing people react to what you've made. Shock Therapy enjoys seeing that their music is having an impact on their listener. This impact is particularly apparent when they play live shows and see people dancing and singing along to their songs. Its an incredibly reassuring feeling to know people are connecting to something that you have worked hard on and are proud of.
In addition to their third record Shock Therapy is working towards putting out some physical copies of their music.
Shock Therapy strives to continue to write music, play shows and grow in all areas of their band.
