Melted

The Long Beach punk band Melted was formed in 2013 with four members. In August 2019 Melted became a two piece who relies on the help of loads of friends. Justin Eckley sometimes plays guitar, but is always on vocals with Sam Mankien on drums. Their friends Randy Moore and Ryan Reno play with them on guitar and bass.
Mankien began playing drums because his neighbor had a drum kit. His neighbor happened to be friends with his older brother which made the drums seem even cooler. Eckley started playing because of Green Day and "wanting to be 'cool'", or at least that's what Mankien says. Either way Melted eventually came to be after a couple of kids decided to pick up instruments to be "cool".
Melted takes inspiration from bands like The Descendents, and Circle Jerks; even though these are points of inspiration for the members of Melted they don't directly use these influences in Melted's music. Mankien tries to keep an open mind when it comes to what he listens to and coincidentally where he finds inspiration. Other than those inspirations Melted finds the hardworking people in their lives inspirational. It takes a lot of hard work to pursue anything that's worth pursing, not just music.
Once Mankien started performing in front of people in high school with his first band he knew he was going to be a musician. He has brought this love of playing to Melted.
Melted likes to play fast and hopes to put out as much music as they can. The band is currently working on a LP that will be released just as soon as a record label picks them up. Until then, their listeners can find them on Spotify and most other streaming services.
