Vincent Daper and the Culls

Vincent Daper and The Culls is made up of a rather talented bunch of musicians. On drums Todd Johnson, the reason the band is ever on track is due to his keen sense of organization. Kevin Shultz, "a world class player and a world class gentleman," keeps the rhythm section tight on bass. Chase Terry plays and repairs electric guitars, keeping the band going with working equipment. Eric Peatross brings knowledge of music theory to the group, but just as importantly he plays electric piano. Vincent Daper, known to his bandmates and friends as Carson Wolfe, plays electric guitar and is the lead singer. "Despite having the worst voice in the group," said Wolfe.
Vincent Daper and The Culls make such great music because they all get along so well. Each member brings their own diverse skill set to the table. "Music related or not, this is a stellar line up of smart, funny, compassionate, and creative people and I think we're really lucky to have each other," boasts Wolfe.
Vincent Daper and The Culls have similar inspirations as most musicians: Radiohead, Pink Floyd... dad rock. However, they also find inspiration in the work of artists that Wolfe and Terry came across way back in '04. They had discovered a pedal builder they both really liked called Catalinbread and fell down a rabbit hole of looking into the artists that were endorsed by this brand. Wolfe and Terry discovered some of the coolest music they have ever heard; this music they has been influential to their band since. In addition to music made by other artists, Wolfe finds a lot of inspiration from reading. "Some poetry or a good book totally resets my mind and gets me thinking about the world in a clearer way," says Wolfe. "I always feel like I'm closer to being creatively productive after getting lost in a book for some time." Getting out of his head and into nature helps spark that creativity for Wolfe.
For Wolfe music has been a form of coping with any and all emotions. As a teenager he spent a lot of time being sad for what felt like no reason. Not wanting to burden anyone else with his feelings, he would keep to himself, which did not help. "Every time I got really close to doing something about it, I would somehow come across a piece of music that would just blow me away," explained Wolfe. "I would be captivated by the new sounds and forget about wanting to disappear."
The music Vincent Daper and The Culls makes can be described as "dreamy, dynamic, lush, emotive, and raw"; listeners can experience all the emotions their music provokes by listening to them on any streaming platform. Listeners can find a free downloadable copy of their music on their BandCamp. The listeners can also get physical copies of Vincent Daper and The Culls at their shows in the form of vinyl.
