Wicked Things

A band of brothers... literally, is bringing Rock n Roll back and they call themselves Wicked Things. Their music takes everything good about rock from the 1960s and 70s and rolls it into a catchy package.
In terms of Wicked Things' sound they look to heros of rock n roll like Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, and Mötley Crüe. Each of the brothers pick up bits of their playing styles from artists they as musicians and individuals look up to. Blade Hills, guitarist, looks to Ritche Blackmore and Eddie Van Halen for inspiration. Bassist Gericho Hills looks to Geezer Butler and Billy Sheehan. Drummer Cooper Hills plays jazz, blues, and hip hop in addition to rock, but leans towards rock for his inspiration. Drummers like Ian Paice and Taylor Hawkins provide heavy stylistic influence for Hills. Kaleb Hills looks to different vocalists for stylistic inspiration; each artist for different reasons. He looks to Michael Hutchence who hardly has to sing, "He can just talk through a song and it sounds great," says Hills. Alannah Myles and David Lee Roth for their classic rock sound. George Michael and Freddie Mercury, "because how can anyone not want to sing like them," said Hills.
Outside of music Wicked Things looks at their experiences and their surroundings for inspiration. They write what they are passionate about and what is around them in the form of a story song, much like classic rock, "Because of this I think it just happens that a lot of our songs are about girls, good times, rock music and living your best life," explains Kaleb Hills.
Wicked Things grew up in a very rock n roll household. Each brother eventually picked up an instrument. Learning everything by ear with no formal training Wicked Things has gained a following in their home country of Australia. Since then they have progressed as musicians and have music up on Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube. Wicked Things recently finished recording three new singles. They have plans on releasing them on hard copy only. Allowing their fans to get a hard copy before the rest of the world hears it gives the fans a special treat. After the initial physical release there will be a digital release. The three songs are some of their favorites that they have written so far and when the songs have been played live they are crowd favorites.
Wicked Things sees music as something that drives many different things in everyday life. Music has the power to change moods. Music is obviously very important to everyone, not just musicians; "people just sort of need it to be normal, without it there's just a whole lot of empty space in the world," says Kaleb Hills. "That being said some music is not at all important, trap rap, mumble rap, overly produced pop... that can [screw] right off," Hills laughs. "There's too much of that in the world already."
