Thomas McLeod

In a Disney movie called "Summer Magic" that was released in the early 1960's there is a character played by Burl Ives who plays a song called "On the Front Porch" on a nylon string guitar. As a child Thomas McLeod loved that scene in "Summer Magic"; eventually he asked his parents to get him a guitar and he has been playing since then. Getting a guitar helped McLeod get into music. He began with a "major Beatles obsession", an obsession that has followed him into his adult life. The Beatles helped McLeod see everything he loves about pop song writing as well as introducing him to psychedelia and surrealism. The group heavily inspires how McLeod writes. In addition to The Beatles, there are other bands that inspire McLeod. One of which is Deerhunter with their heavier approach to pop music and their experimental attitude towards their music has been inspiring for McLeod. Aside from other great artists McLeod finds inspiration in travel. "Watching the world go by... I always find a lot of atmosphere and emotion in the process of changing locations and passing through landscapes," says McLeod.
Writing music on his guitar, and occasionally a song on the piano, McLeod makes what could be described as soft psychedelic alternative pop rock. In terms of being a musician, aside from songwriting, McLeod considers himself a bassist. He hopes to work more with drums and synthesizers on future projects.
McLeod works hard to make the best music he can. With every song he strives to make it better than the last one. McLeod also hopes his skills on the production side of his music continues to grow. "I do feel in over my head on some of the more technical aspects of recording music, but ultimately, I'd rather the production be sub par than the content of the song," said McLeod. Although he truly hopes nothing he does is subpar. Ultimately his biggest goal with his music is to just become a better musician and put out music that he fully believes in.
McLeod is currently working on writing his second album; he plans on releasing singles this spring and his album in late 2020. You can find his debut album on Spotify and most other streaming services.
While he is a solo artist, when recording McLeod has a few friends that play shows with him. His brother Jamie takes lead guitar, synth, and sings harmony. Their roommate, Ben, plays bass and their good friend, Brendan plays drums. All while McLeod sings and plays rhythm guitar.
