Big Bill

Each member of Big Bill is pulled towards the freedom and creativity that is brought to an artist by a song. While bassist Alex Riegelman was in college he played in cover bands. Brothers Eric and Cody Braden, vocalist and guitarist, spent their childhood making records on a low quality microphone and an old computer. Due to their, then, complete lack of understanding of music theory the records were terrible. The process of making music was extremely addicting; the Braden brothers have continued to love making music. Big Bill allows every member of the band to continue seeking the freedom and creativity brought by music.
Eric Braden recalls being in college and seeing loads of band play small shows and he thought he could be a musician too; it seemed like everyone on stage was having fun. "I know I can do that," thought Braden. "I have no idea why. I had no reason to think I would be any good at it." Luckily he's turned out to be a pretty good musician.
Big Bill is a punk band that has been inspired by The Monks, The B-52’s, Hank Williams, The Ramones and many other big names.
When recording music there comes a point where an artist releases that music and it’s no longer theirs. It’s out in the world for everyone to hear. People might find a line that really resonates with them. Whoever is listening to a song might identify with every single line. The possibility of a song helping someone is why Big Bill keeps making music. That and the “life-affirming” feeling they get when playing live.
Big Bill started out in Austin, Texas in a tiny apartment with the Braden brothers and their friend David Fitzhugh. “A lot has changed since then, but we’re still having fun!” says Braden.
You can listen to Big Bill on Spotify, as well as their band camp. The band currently has a record that is almost done. It began as 50 demos and has since been narrowed down to 10 songs that Big Bill favors.
