Carpool Tunnel

Carpool Tunnel is working hard at Revolution 9 Studios on their debut album, "Bloom", that is set to come out in spring of 2020. The album, like their singles that are currently available on all streaming platforms, is "Modern Indie Surf Rock". In addition to their upcoming album fans can also look out for a few singles and music videos prior to the release of "Bloom".
The San Francisco based band got their name from a list on a fridge. An old roommate of vocalist and guitarist Ben Koppenjan, had people write phrases they thought would be good names for bands while they were at his parties. One day they saw the phrase "Carpool Tunnels in Rome" and took a liking to it. So they chopped it, keeping the first half of the name. Carpool Tunnel started as a funny name conjured up on a party list and has grown to have a bit of meaning. "Overtime the name developed into a symbol and lifestyle: The darkness of a tunnel doesn't feel as grim when you're with the ones you love," says Carpool Tunnel.
Ben Koppenjan found his love for music when he was 16. He had been given a guitar at a young age but never took it seriously until later on. Koppenjan's mother had him taking vocal lessons at age seven. That young exposure helped to fuel his passion for music. In high school Koppenjan auditioned for the school's vocal ensembl which turned out to be a huge turning point.
Brad Kearsley has always had an interest in music. After a few injuries that prevented Kearsley from playing sports he needed something to do. On the hunt for a new hobby his dad and brother gave him a few CDs, these CDs peaked Kearsley's interest in music. He had a guitar, so in his boredom he picked it up and fell in love with making music.
Spencer Layne, bassist and vocalist, was the first person in his family to take up music. After playing a recorder when he was a kid he would pick up any instrument he could, the first instrument he picked up after his experience with a recorder was a guitar. Layne was lucky enough to attend lessons for guitar as well as performance at a School of Rock.
Raised by a drummer it only makes sense that Danny Stauffer became a drummer. His father always played "rhythmically intricate" music. Since his childhood music has been an outlet for him to get everything out. Stauffer has always known his life would revolve around music.
