The Shrieks

The Shrieks dubbed at "The best kept secret in [New York City]" is a five piece band fronted by Luis "Tito" Accorsi. The band will be releasing a new album soon: "Ode to Jo". The title is for Luis "Tito" Accorsi's childhood best friend. Accorsi grew up in Venezuela where he attended an English speaking school. At school he met his best friend, Jo, the person who got him into music. The first time Luis Accorsi met Jo he was taking apart a mandolin to paint and electrify it. Since then, Accorsi has been in love with music. He was in his first band in Venezuela and they played everywhere. Accorsi would eventually pack up and bring his music with him to America where he has founded The Shrieks.
The Shrieks have a sound that is unique to them as a band. With two guitars played by Luis Accorsi and Duff Harris, drums played by Jeremy Sauber, bass played by Darren Lipper, and pedal steel guitar played by Jeff Lampert. While Accorsi sings lead vocals Harris, Sauber, and Lipper often pitch in with backing vocals. This arrangement of instruments and the group's influences make for a new wave sound. New wave famously presents lyrics packed with feelings of discontent and deliver them in a pretty package of mostly happy sounding music. The Shrieks do just that. They are a very socially conscious band. Their lyrics carry heavy meaning and are meant to be really listened to, but their music holds more upbeat emotions. The band's name is even a nod to the social atmosphere right now; according to Accorsi the world feels like its at a "shrieking point" where everything is just screaming, begging for attention.
