Joy Noise

Joy Noise is the funnest, most personable band you could ever hope to meet, this shows in their philosophy that the connection with an audience is extremely important. They play with the goal of becoming rich and famous, but more importantly with the goal of making other people want to start playing. Joy Noise wants to not only inspire people to pick up an instrument and maybe start a cruddy band, but to be someone's therapist when they can't afford a professional therapist. Music has helped so many people, including the members of Joy Noise, get through hard times and fight through inner battles. Joy Noise hopes that their music can do that for whoever listens to their music.
The boys of Joy Noise all got into music for reasons that can be chalked up to not knowing anything else. Drummer, Jeff Bowler wasn't good at sports so the only thing that made sense was to play music. Guitarist, Daren Kiser simply did not want to work a nine to five job and in his words "didn't want to have money".
Joy Noise plays "punk for people who don't know what punk is"; their music falls under the umbrella of rock. Their vast list of influences means their music doesn't quite fit any specific genre. On the list of influences is just about anyone from the early scene in Gilman, this means Green Day is pretty high on the Joy Noise list of inspirations.
The band is kind of self taught. Daren Kiser took lessons from the same teacher who taught the guitarist of Gwen Stefani's iconic 90's band No Doubt. Jeff Bowler had a less... or maybe more famous teacher: YouTube. Bassist Mason Ventura had a few guitar lessons, but is self taught on bass. Vocalist and guitarist Koch had lessons, just not in his instrument.
Joy Noise was formed after Bowler and Koch played in another band together that had a small falling out and the pair happened to be on the same side. Ventura joined the band as soon as he found out that his previous band was breaking up, a situation that happened quickly and all while he was on the toilet. A few months ago Joy Noise found Kiser and he didn't totally suck... so they kept him.
You can listen to Joy Noise literally anywhere you can stream music. Listen to their newest single "Its Not a Popularity Contest (Yes It Is)" while you wait for their upcoming single, "Right Before Their Eyes". The new single is out on October 28.
Joy Noise will be playing a few Halloween shows; check out their Instagram @joynoiceband for dates.
Joy Noise is on a mission to take the idea of corporate pop and make it meaningful art.
