Else Langhans

Else Langhans is a DIY artist who shares her music with the world through YouTube and Instagram; you can find her on both platforms by simply searching her name. She began making videos in March of 2019 with the idea of working out the kinks and becoming a better, more well rounded artist. Else Langhans began with a Twenty One Pilots cover and is currently working her way into original music, still posting covers. Langhans wants to make absolutely certain that her original music is something she is happy with before she gives it to the judgmental hands of the internet.
Of these covers have included a few songs written by UK artist Dodie. For Else Langhans, Dodie has played an enormous part in her music and development as an artist. "I really love everything about her and her music, especially her lyrics. The way they are poetic and conversational at the same time just amazes me." says Langhans. "... making her songs relatable without being surface-level." Dodie has even noticed Else Langhans and has shared her music to her Instagram story. Being noticed and applauded by another artist from which you find inspiration in is something that is highly motivational for any artist.
Langhans has been playing ukulele for two years and has been playing guitar for a little over a year, saying she is, "not quite where I want to be regarding skill level, but there is always time to grow and improve." In addition to her string instruments Else Langhans sings with what feels like every bit of emotion she has. Which is fitting for her unique style of writing. Langhans is quite new to songwriting, but has written poetry and short stories in the past; so she is taking what she knows about those types of writing and working it into her songwriting. This style of writing produces a "folksy, calm, raw sound". Part of the raw sound is not a stylistic choice, but rather a happy coincidence caused by minimal access to equipment and editing software.
As Else Langhans continues to evolve and grow as a songwriter and a musician she is sharing her progress to her aforementioned Instagram and YouTube accounts. Be sure to listen to her covers and one day you'll be able to listen to her original compositions.
