The Cavves

Carrying inspiration from artists like Daniel Johnston, The Smiths, Rush, Toronto, and Idles; as well as the genres of New Wave and Synth Pop, The Cavves play indie alternative that casts a beachy vibe. They say they are "landlocked surf rock for emos" and that is more than apparent in their sound. The Cavves are Sophie Emerson, Matt Bennett, Troy Toon, and Jackson Relph.
Some musicians have an epiphany about becoming a professional musician and that moment didn't escape half of The Cavves. For guitarist Matt Bennett that moment was when he was only three years old, or so he claims. He says he was waiting for The Nightmare Before Christmas to come on tv and "happened to stubble upon Mark Knofler playing guitar." As for drummer Jackson Relph it all circles back around to rock band. He was gifted the game for Christmas when he was 9, but it wasn't until he made it to expert mode on Rock Band did he know for sure that he was going to be a musician. For the other half of The Cavves everything just fell into place for them, in terms of music.
The Cavves had a... strange start, their first show they played together was in bass and synth player Troy Toon's brother's basement with a Catholic death metal band who "pulled out a bible and started [reading] scripture(s) during a breakdown". Since then The Cavves have played more enjoyable shows and will be playing many more in October. You can follow The Cavves on Instagram @thecavves for all their October dates and much more! Even if you can't make it out to a show you can always enjoy The Cavves from home; listen to the band on almost every streaming service. However, if you are lucky enough to see a show, you'll get to experience a more hard core version of The Cavves. When they play live they get to go much harder than recording allows them to. According to vocalist and guitarist they like to party; any show with a band who likes to party is a good time!
