Palomino Blond

Named after the common name for a tarantula Aphonopelma Chalcodes: Palomino Blond. The spider is often kept as a pet as it is known to be pretty laid back. You might not refer to the Miami based band, Palomino Blond, as laid back. Their band is what they describe as "lush, crushing, fiery, dreamy, and energetic".
Palomino Blond plays whatever they want, but their music falls under the umbrella of Alternative Rock. The band has a song called "I'm Not Rite 4 U" that their vocalist and guitarist, Kyle Fink, refers to as "reggae Black Sabbath": a description that might seem ridiculous is actually spot on. Palomino Blond takes influence from a variety of artists ranging from No Doubt to Incubus. In between that range lives influences like The Strokes, Smashing Pumpkins, and SWMRS. These influences, not one like the next, heavily effect their sound that sounds like a mash up of every possible sub genre of alternative.
After Kyle Fink met vocalist and guitarist Carli Acosta at a friend's jam session where their friend had hopes of Fink and Acosta "to be the backing band for his solo project". That solo project quickly ran it's course. After deciding to form a band they needed a drummer, so it was a no brainer to ask Jake Karner, who'd been in a "million great bands", if he'd drum in their band. Then through a DM, after having heard that Acosta and Fink were up to something Raven Nieto became Palomino Blond's bassist. They practiced together only four times before their debut gig at an underground venue in Miami, Florida called 229. The show was played with "no frills", not even a stage. The background in which Palomino Blond played a cover of the Buffy the Vampire theme song in front of was just a hand painted banner made by Carli Acosta. At that show Acosta handed out disposable cameras to the first few people who came. The band got some really good pictures out of their first show.
Palomino Blond is playing a run of shows in Florida that began on August 22nd at the Lozer Lounge in Margate, Florida. You can follow their Instagram @palomino_blond to find more show dates. If you can't make it to a show... or if you go to a gig and can't get enough you can listen to them on all major streaming services.
