Boy Grapes

Seventeen year old solo artist Sean Grapin is working towards making a name for himself under the name Boy Grapes. He started out playing bass in hopes that a band would pick him up. He then moved onto acoustic guitar to expand his knowledge and talent. After mastering acoustic guitar he bought a Mexican Fender Stratocaster which he's fallen in love with. Grapin also bought a drum set from a friend which he taught himself to play. In addition to bass, drums, and guitar he plays ukulele, harmonica, trumpet, and a little piano. However, Grapin is the most comfortable on his Fender. In his own words Boy Grape is a "one man band". He loves the minimalistic idea of just a "boy and his guitar".
While learning bass is when Boy Grapes really got into music. The constant need to find new songs to learn helped him expand his taste in music.
Boy Grapes plays an experimental type of music. When playing live he dabbles into rock, punk, blues and folk; however, his recorded work is almost always experimental. He does not like to get too caught up on genre so his music seems to be a little bit of every genre. If you wanted to classify his music you would be able to put it in under the wide umbrella of alternative.
Boy Grapes already as an album out, you can listen to his album "Limelight" on Spotify. The album was entirely self produced; he worked with GarageBand on his phone and the microphone on his earbuds. Boy Grapes also has some music up on Soundcloud: a Neutral Milk Hotel cover and his EP.
Boy Grapes' location has almost everything to do with his inspiration. He grew up in the metropolitan area of Washington DC, the culture of the area greatly affected how he thinks and what he listens to. In terms of music his biggest inspiration is Radiohead. He finds solace in their experimental values as well as the heart and soul they put into every song. Some other artists that he finds inspiration in are Pink Floyd, Outkast, Kanye West, and The Beatles. As any good guitarist will tell you he finds inspiration in Jimi Hendrix.
