Lavoy

Made up of keyboard player Ivan Brik, drummer Kipp Riley, bassist Ryan Monson, and vocalist Tyrell Tompkins: Lavoy plays indie/alternative music that has a sound that falls between "early Cure and late 70's New Wave". The name Lavoy is a name that has been passed through Tyrell Tompkins' family for many generations. The name is a way to pay homage to Tompkins' grandfather who passed away the year the band was formed. Even though the band has gone through a handful of different phases and members the name has remained the same. Lavoy started when Tyrell Tompkins told his brother and a couple cousins that they needed to start a new band after the prior band he was in had disbanded. After members joining, moving on, and in some cases sticking with the band, Lavoy is the four piece that you can listen to today.
Most bands cite the music their parents played around their homes throughout childhood as their biggest inspiration, but not Lavoy. They are most inspired by the world around them, by their friends and family. However, with that being said there are quite a few bands that inspire them: The Spox, Hers, and Medium Build.
Lavoy loves the performing aspect of music. They have a desire to be "love and be loved" to create a warm family environment with their music. They play with the goal to be known for being welcoming and making people feel like they're a part of something bigger than themselves.
Lavoy was formed in Alaska, but has since moved to Spokane, Washington. You can check out their instagram @lavoymusic for show dates and more. "Music is more available to explore than ever before", so use that to your advantage and listen to Lavoy on Spotify, Soundcloud and most other major streaming services.
