THE OFFDAYS
London based indie rock band THE OFFDAYS started out with an unplanned first gig in October of 2017. At the time the band was only vocalist and guitarist Robert Maniac and lead guitarist Jack Sandi-Edwards. After receiving a phone call from Sandi-Edwards, while he was waiting to have his hair cut, asking Maniac if he could make it to play a show Maniac made it across town to play. They ended up playing to a very small crowd, single digits small, after a few other bands played. THE OFFDAYS have since grown; adding bassist Tyrhys Warren and drummer Billy Moody to the line up.
Robert Maniac attended an uber religious elementary school where they sang prayers three times a day. One day during the closing prayer his teacher brought out a guitar and found the right chords for the prayer within a matter of seconds. Robert Maniac has been interested in music since then. He took a handful of guitar lessons, just enough to learn the basics. His teacher introduced him to "good music". Bands that had a large impact on the music community: The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Who, and The Doors. Being introduced to these bands has had a huge impact, they made Maniac broaden his horizons. From there he discovered a load of bands for himself. Artists like Chris Cornell, Slash, and Kurt Cobain have helped him shape his own sound and style of playing. These bands and artists, as well as many others influence the sound of THE OFFDAYS. Taking influences from bands is a slightly different beast for Tyrhys Warren. As he was teaching himself to play bass he never really took influence from bands and other artists. More so he got ideas that shaped his playing over time. Jack Sandi- Edwards' father has been his influence; growing up he was always around something music related whether that be a toy drum kit or Later Live with Jools Holland playing on the TV. As for bands Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Radiohead, and Muse have helped shape his playing. Billy Moody's father also has a lot to do with his loving music. Growing up his father always had instruments around the house, making it easy for Moody to get his hands on an instrument.
If you are lucky enough to be in England THE OFFDAYS will be playing at The Good Mixer on April 11th. If you are not that lucky, you can listen to them on most major streaming services, including, but not limited to Spotify and iTunes.
