Youth Antics

Lead singer and bassist Derek Luna, lead guitarist Dylan Nicolas, rhythm guitarist Panagiotis "Pete" Bell and drummer Cameron Luna are Tampa natives that make up the band Youth Antics. With a name rooted in typical teenage tomfoolery, Youth Antics play alternative/indie music with a dash of new wave. The band is heavily influenced by Interpol.
Derek Luna originally started to play guitar, but soon switched to bass; the bass fits better with Luna. Dylan Nicolas says wanting to become a musician has been a natural progression. Pete Bell has wanted to be a musician since a very early age. As for Cameron Luna, well he was drug into the band, but is happy nonetheless.
Like most musicians Youth Antics love getting to play live. Their first official gig was a club show at the Crowbar in Tampa. Since then they've played quite a few shows. Derek Luna and Pete Bell's favorite gig was at the Orpheum. There was a strong connection with the crowd; good connection with a crowd always leads to a great show. Cameron Luna's favorite show was last year's Harvey Milk Festival. For a drummer outdoor shows a treat, being able to hit drums as hard as you want without having to worry too much about dynamics. Dylan Nicolas's favorite was also an outdoor show, a festival called Ringling Underground. Again, a show with an excellent crowd connection.
Youth Antics strives to inspire positivity. Not only in their music, but also in everything they do in their community. They describe their band as, "energetic, bright, positive, friendly, and determined." Which seems to be a fantastic description of Youth Antics' music. You can listen to their music on all major music platforms. Be sure to follow them on Instagram @youthantics.
